Repeat after me, tech folks: marginalized communities are NOT a valid test bed for your shiny AI tools. AI bias has already caused enough harm to these communities. Don’t go in without humility, partnership, and a deep community understanding of the unintended consequences your work will have.
This announcement doesn’t display humility, awareness of the power dynamics, or awareness of any potential bias risks, data accuracy risks, or community impacts (like fewer jobs for students). It focuses on non-academic success criteria like “loving”ness and the number of metaverses. No outcomes.

Even putting aside the bias issues, which are real and valid, “AI” chatbots like this just make stuff up constantly. They have zero concept of facts or correctness. Anyone who thinks they are suitable as a “teaching assistant” should not be working in the field of education. At all. Anywhere.
