And like the March to the sea, despite its initial brilliance was stymied due to very similar issues. How ever in the long term it didn't matter as Grant had Lee cornered and there was nothing Lee could do about it except leave Richmond which he refused to do

I haven't read this one, tho' I've read another ACW book by the same author

He did a 5 book series on the Overland Campaign. This is book 5 the others are Wilderness/Spotyslvania/North Anna and Cold Harbour. In reality though there was no breaks. It was continuous fighting non stop. Much of it in Trenches
