Although Kelly's political satire is not the favorite part of his work for me, I totally see the importance and validity of what he was trying to do. And sometimes, I really wish he was still with us to shame the new McCarthys and Nixons.
We have met the enemy and they is him.

World Otter Day and National Alligator Day on the same day? Only one thing for it - the best otter and gator pairing.

Pogo Revival by Doyle & Sternecky circa 1989. Impressed that Albert managed to get a bar of soap to last over 20 years.

Walt Kelly's Pogo Original Memorial Day Strip from 1955. I think this is more relevant now than it was when it first came out.

The final confrontation of the Gon' E-Choo! comic, rendered as a classic late 30's movie scene, later used as the cover of an album for a certain orchestra rock band. Thanks to @jean-renaud.bsky.social for making this, proving cartoon alligators have the best build-in emerald slippers.
A follow-up of that glittering gator paws pic that I did earlier today for #pawsday over on the Twitter thing @gonechoo.bsky.social gave me the idea and...well... I just couldn't get it out of my head

Did you know that Walt Kelly (of Pogo fame) and Jean Shepherd (of "A Christmas Story" fame) got into a fight at a cartoonist's meeting where "the bourbon flowed freely"? Details are sketchy; I doubt it was a real fight considering how much esteem Shepherd had for Kelly. youtu.be/NmxfCnRhDbY?...
