Yep. And, occasionally, the “coworker biting fish”. He’s very glad that it was just a finger.

I remember learning about this when I watched that PBS documentary 'Your Inner Fish with Neil Shubin'. Still blows my mind.

I just love that we called the scales on sharks and rays “denticles” because they look like little teeth. But they actually ARE teeth. And it’s possible the structures were teeth before they were scales, but they are still the closest thing to scales humans have.
