brian wilson was right it IS great to see a guy you like on tv every night. it's great to hear phil spector songs. it's great to look at the stars and think about the planets. it's great to honk down the highway. these are some of the main things that make life bearable.
there is a demo version of “god only knows” where the organ is mic’d and he’s singing almost, like, absently? and it’s my favorite version of the song because it is exactly what love feels like. and i think his capacity to capture love like that (and joy also) really highlights his works on despair
