Have you ever tried any of the non-alcoholic beers? I find for me they check that “cold beer on a hot day” box.
But I have other friends who quit drinking who stay far away from near beers, fearing it might make them crave the real thing.
No, I haven't.
I have caved probably 5x since 2017 and have had a cold beer or two, but I try to keep that at the absolute minimum. It's usually in depressive/self destructive periods where I genuinely need a drink or two to chill out. lol
Partake Pale Ale is hands down the best non alcoholic beer I've had. Their Partake Peach Gose is really unique and amazing too (especially real cold on a hot day)
I say that as a former beer lover who stopped consuming alcohol for health reasons. I think it tastes amazing.
There’s some good non-alcoholic beers out there now! Not like back when all that was available was O’Doul’s (shudder)
Does weed help with those depressive periods? I find it usually works for me… up to a point, and then things can turn counterproductive

But sometimes if my lungs are feeling over-worked, or, if the depressive episode is too bad, I won't allow myself the relief that smoking it provides as a form of like, punitive deprivation?
It's messed-up. I usually can't eat much, nor have much mobility at those points.
