New: Ticketmaster hackers have dumped data that can be used to create 38,000 tickets, some for concerts that are tonight. Even if the stolen tickets are reissued, this is a potential logistical disaster for fans, artists, venues, Ticketmaster, brokers etc www.404media.co/the-ticketma...
The Ticketmaster Hack Is Becoming a Logistical Nightmare for Fans and Brokerswww.404media.co The latest dump includes ticket data, which means fans' tickets can be stolen if Ticketmaster doesn't reissue them. "This is really really really really bad," one broker told 404 Media.

A broker I talked to said "this is really really really really bad" (for any ticket holder). "What’s going to end up happening is it will be a gamble and a race," with the first person who gets to a venue getting in and anyone else being locked out

Ticketmaster can, and should, reissue the tickets to prevent this outcome. But anyone who has already printed a ticket, resold that ticket, shared it with a friend, or misses the reissue is then going to be trying to get into the show with a suddenly illegitimate ticket

part of the vulnerability here is that brokers tools exist that generate legit-looking tickets when given a barcode number. this specific leak feels like a warning from the hackers. 38k tickets is not that many. any potential bigger leak could cause mass chaos

for context, brokers double-sold a small number of tickets to a Luke Combs concert a few months ago, and it was mass chaos at the venue. Both StubHub and Combs had to apologize, and fans were PISSED. Even a small number of fans denied entry is a huge deal www.ticketnews.com/2024/05/luke...

I've seen people get scammed with duplicate PDF tickets and denied entry at the venue. It is usually very unpleasant. Fans get mad at the security guards and it's often very hard to solve these issues at the gate when a concert is about to happen

Good thing there's no monopoly on ticket sales. The other companies should remain unaffected.
