The inability of med school professors and residency supervisors to provide practical abortion training is a key academic freedom issue of the post-Dobbs era, one that's drawn little attention from traditional academic freedom groups. That should change. www.chronicle.com/article/medi...
Medical Students Fought to Get Training in Abortion Care. Then Came ‘Dobbs.’www.chronicle.com How are they — and other health-care professionals — learning it now?

I'm in NP school at a Texas School of Some Renown and they won't even fucking TALK about abortions. They literally took mifepristone out of my advanced pharm course.

This isn't just a problem for today. Seven to ten years from now some states won't have any medical professionals trained to deal with reproductive health issues, partly due to lack of training and partly since many will relocate rather than work under the restrictive legislations.

We need laws providing funding for students and residents to leave the country or state and go somewhere where they train for this. We need state programs from states with queer and women’s rights to fund semesters away where people can specialize.

I’d like to see a doctor or hospital or school stand up to these laws. Why is the burden on the pregnant women to fight this alone? When the Patriot Act went too far, it was librarians who pushed back to protect their patrons.
