It is interesting to me that the same folks who tell those who speak out on injustice to "shut up and [insert occupation here]" now are loudly using their businesses and public platforms to tell us who they're backing politically. That says a lot to me...

I guess now in my 40s, after spending so much of my youth online fighting with strangers, I finally learned that I should just sign off sometimes and use my energy elsewhere.

RANDOM PARENTAL MUSINGS: I want to avoid the parental trope of being the dad whose kids only realize that he loved them when he died. As parents, I believe hiding our soft spots, robs us from experiencing that love back. I love showing my kiddos that I think about them and in turn, they do the same.

My family got me a little dragon fruit pot from our local pharmacy as neat little project. At first it did poorly in the house. I repotted it and found a nice little warm and humid spot outside and the cacti is lovin’ it! Here’s to 5 years until I see some sort of fruit. LOL 🌱

This weekend, I was organizing my indie comics collection from artists within my "peer group" (who started publishing around the same time I did). I'm in my 40s, and I've been publishing for over a decade, I'm genuinely shocked at how many of us are no longer alive. It's truly sobering.

Kiddo (12) had an idea and wanted to draw a “girl with puffs with Saturn rings.” I love what she came up with.

I've gotten so used to saying I have young children, but with Kiddo getting ready to be a teen and Baby Girl turning 9, it's been an adjustment to accept that they can do stuff without my help. Time keeps moving so fast y'all!

Kiddo’s been promising to give me something for my birthday and Father’s Day but she had lots on her plate with school and extracurricular activities. I understood and didn’t worry about it. This morning she left this box on my desk. I love the gift she made me. Got me all teary 🥲

Our current “subscribe and save” economy coupled with planned obsolescence is all kinds of frustrating. Everything trying to be expensive “bespoke” precious objects yet break down less than a year. I hope this trend will end soon.
