As predicted: “Internally, I’m told execs are thinking about turning on ads in Threads sometime next year, though the exact plan is still up in the air.” #SocialMedia #Threads www.theverge.com/2024/7/3/241...
Threads hits 175 million users after a yearwww.theverge.com Meta is focused on stealing more market share from X and preparing to turn on ads.

eh at least federation came out before then, meaning a lot of accounts can be read and stuff without needing to go on Threads 🤷‍♂️

That is true. I’ve just been seeing more chatter from folks choosing to make threads their “home” app. Nothing wrong with that……but it comes with a price. Namely being in the Facebook ecosystem. What you said, the majority of people still don’t understand.😣🤷🏽

Yeah that's true, I want more people to actually enable it, seems like only techie accounts (since they have a rough idea/know what the Fediverse is). Luckily it looks like Meta actually wants to work on making this better though, reading an interview rn which came out today (with Insta's CEO)

Who is also CEO of Threads. Look what he said about Federation: Again, I agree with you, but I also hope big tech gets into this, so people at least have the option to use Mastodon or something.
