What it feels like to live inside the classic Daniel Okrent observation from 2004: 'there was a period in the not-too-distant past when editors stressed the maxim ''Don't get it first, get it right.'' That soon mutated into ''Get it first and get it right.'' The next devolution was an obvious one.'
One thing that feels abundantly clear is that fast twitch reaction, no matter how reckless has been rebranded its own kind of virtuous truth telling by influencers and opportunists and how restraint is viewed as suspicious on the timeline

Listen, it’s really quite straightforward. Everything you think is complicated is actually simple, while everything you think is simple is actually complicated.

SO WE THINK OF MAGIC AS FANTASY BUT THAT'S BECAUSE WE'RE NOT USED TO THINKING IN METAPHOR. IN THE REAL WORLD, WE WRITE LAWS AND CONTRACTS DOWN ON PIECES OF PAPER AND MANIFEST REAL CHANGES IN OURSELVES AND THE WORLD. SOUNDS LIKE A MAGIC SPELL RIGHT? IT'S THE SAME WITH REINCARNA-

i'm not saying it doesn't feel bad. it does feel very bad. but people are talking like underpants gnomes and don't realize it.
When I saw Biden at a fundraiser early this month, he sounded tired and a bit feeble, particularly contrasted with Obama talking right next to him. But the choice between enfeebled and a narcissistic sociopath surrounded by younger narcissistic sociopaths is not even a little difficult.

Just to clarify, AI doesn't give you answers, it gives you "strings of characters with answer-like vibes"

Bureacromancy is a funny word (I’m totally stealing it). You know, combine something mundane (dealing with forms) with something fantastical (magic). But this is literally how magic works. You can control the world around you by speaking the right words in the right order (i.e. an incantation)
Bureacromancy is a powerful school of magic. Nothing scares administrators like documentation.

If you have to pick between something and "being right," letting go of being right is (almost) always the right move.

I find the word "sophmore" to be a very useful concept (in the broader sense, rather than the "2nd year student" sense. Etymologically, it derives from the Greek words "sophos" (wise) and "mōros" (foolish). So literally translated, it means something like "wise idiot" or "foolish smartie"

This is an astoundingly cool thing to think about. It’s just so awesome that it’s true.
