I knew a guy once who would drop "per se" in his sentences, like a little exclamation. We never talked again after I told him he'd never used it right. Ever. In any conversation. But honestly, I'd had enough and he was dumb.

It's best to get rid of those people, per se.

If he ever talked about the “&” symbol he probably used it correctly but pronounced it with nigh-unintelligible brevity.
