For his 25th birthday, I bought my son a used hardback of an out-of-print book we loved when he was a kid.
He is re-reading it now and its previous owner left post-its!
There’s this short window in Ann Arbor when they have streets blocked for Art Fairs, but nothing is set up yet. Pain in the ass to drive around, but it’s a pedestrian Wonderland.
I borrowed a friend’s L.L. Bean quarter zip rain jacket 30 years ago and I still have it. Pete Daniel, if you’re out there somewhere, I’d be happy to send it back.
Vacation rental comes with bonus cat, Iggy. He seemed to expect he could come inside (which we did not allow). I was unsure if this meant he was just, you know, a cat, who knows he’s entitled to everything, vs. he sorta actually lives here.
Turns out he lives in the attached dwelling.
I’m mentally ready—very ready—to get on the train tomorrow
but I’m not anywhere near ready in a practical sense
A common pre-vacation condition in chez moi
One thing I don’t understand is why, when people are outraged by some injustice or affront — like book bans — they don’t first look to see who is already tracking the issue, who’s already working on education + organization. “We need to do something!” People *are*. Find them. Help them.
LORDT Facebook marketplace can be THE WORST, but I just sold some vintage cans to a guy who turned out to be the nicest fellow
And I don’t mean he merely cleared the low bar of “not an axe murderer” - I’d have a beer with this dude
I have missed my husband a lot during his two week arts escape, yet would be totally cool with it if he took his time on the last leg of the drive home tomorrow. I like my alone time, hogging the TV, eating at weird times.
My spunkiest kitty Thea caught a moth & batted it, pounced on it, let it go, chased it around, batted it down again, carried it around her mouth, spit it out, repeat, having the time of her life. Until she batted it down by Julius, who neatly snapped it up & ate it in one gulp. GAME OVER
Just chilling here enjoying an empty house wondering how my family is, get a text saying they just narrowly missed a black bear crossing the highway in Massachusetts
My husband is going out of town for two weeks and I’m going to miss him but nothing like the cats will — they currently enjoy him playing doorman (out to our deck) aaaaaaall day long
Talking to my admin about a project when he reached toward my overflowing pencil cup to grab a writing implement
Me: ope, hold up most of those don’t actually write
So he went through culled the empties and next time he’s out for beers with the other staff he will Dumb Boss story hour hands down
Joined a zoom meeting with consultants forgetting that my pre-holiday weekend zoom background was Statler & Waldorf.
It was quite the unintended icebreaker
A few years ago, my husband’s summer conflicts led me to taking my son on what was originally conceived as our 25th anniversary trip to Iceland.
There’s a 50% chance I’m gonna take my son abroad this summer for the same reason.
I love the man like crazy but he’s so busy!
There’s a very exciting final happening right now, but we’re also excited about this group of officials! To our knowledge, Nancy is the first woman chosen to moderate a final round at #HSNCT.

If you’re a wealthy NFL player promoting women staying at home during a commencement speech, I hope you’re also using your platform to advocate for affordable healthcare, affordable college, and other things that make that option more feasible for women (or men) to choose.
My son is midway through a 17-hr drive home and he texts to say his phone is about to die and he can’t charge it.
It seems impossible, not only does he have multiple ways to charge it, he needs that phone for his music, he can’t listen to the radio like an ordinary peasant!
