I’ve had books that I could finish in less than two days, as well as books that took well over half a year. Both were equally enjoyable experiences, and even with the one that took longer - it was well worth it.
I had a friend who was shook bc they counted max # of books one could realistically read in a lifetime
…and i was like, ok, so Cat In The Hat & Finnegans Wake both = one book?
The weirdest thing about literature is that really, it can take you an entire lifetime to fully understand and make sense of either one of these seemingly absurdist books.
The words are all mine, and entirely human-generated. They're the only part that is.
The James Joyce in a Dr. Seuss-style hat is sadly AI-based, with some human adjustments in Photoshop (I looked & looked for a stock picture of him in that hat Sadly, none exists.
Statistically that's one more book than most peeps read monthly. Just like exercise, ya gotta start light before moving on to heavier weights. Keep going and keep grinding 💪📚
Depends on what/why you're reading. Like if it's for pleasure, no need to rush, in fact it's probably detrimental if you do. If you need to study or research, then it can be a bit of a grind. Important thing is not to rush the process.
But then how will you keep pace to tell your TikTok followers you read 300 books this year when in reality you listened to 275 elf smut audiobooks on 2x speed?
It doesn't. I'm just making fun of the ridiculous world of BookTok influencers who have to make up increasingly large numbers of books they supposedly read in a year. Just being silly.
