But she was part of the winning administration, people voted for her as VP just as much as they voted for Biden as president!
Why do you feel properly represented by random delegates you know nothing about and have never voted for?
If we are obligated to entertain REPLACE discourse (we aren't, its stupid): Replacing the black VP with a randomly selected white candidate using some made-up process is unethical, undemocratic, and also absolutely guaranteed to give Trump the White House.
How is having 4700 partisan democrats from every state in the country vote on the nominee the same as “randomly selecting” someone? Why does Harris being Black mean she is the *only* option? Is that the way to win in November?
The primary is decided. You don't like the outcome (because you're worried about Trump), so you're requesting some new process that nobody has agreed to and would be forced on us by unidentified administrators and the NYT op-ed board. Harris gets the nom by default because she's VP.
The VP's entire job is: break ties in the Senate and replace the president if something bad happens. I don't think replacing Biden will happen and its a perilously stupid idea, but if the party goes through with it Harris is the nomination.
Legally she's the only person with access to his gigantic campaign haul. Politically she is in the line of succession and her entire purpose is to take over in an emergency. Politically, you cannot let the white NYT op-ed board replace a black VP without some awful electoral consequences.
I would recommend you take a deep breath and consider whether one bad debate that has failed to substantially change the polls is worth lighting a campaign on fire over. If you affirmatively believe it is, you might want to ask why white writers should have more power than black voters.
You're scared of Trump. We are all scared of Trump. Despite being a giant orange piss baby, his agenda is scary. Don't let fear make you stupid. The week-long "BIDEN MUST DROP OUT!" frenzy is laughably dishonest and something every D candidate will face from the NYT no matter what.
If Biden is down 10+ points in two weeks, let's come back to this idea. So far what's become awkwardly obvious is the NYT's ability to "But His Emails" a campaign into submission is pretty limited, and if Biden can endure this freakout without a huge polling shift that's a good thing.
You actually want there to be two MORE weeks of people focused entirely on whether or not Biden is capable of running? Did you notice how quiet Trump has been? Because he’s cagey enough know that if people are busy asking themselves “Is Biden in a terminal decline”, that’s good for Trump.
Then it needs to be Kamala, because the only survivable paradigm that preserves the *very fragile left-to-center-right coalition that is the current Democratic Party* is "something bad happened to the president and the VP is stepping in." 1/
Any other course of action at this point will invite competition between all of the factions sitting uneasily together here. Which is untenable, unless you would like to see what the Dem coalition looks like after Black voters, and especially Black women, abandon it en masse. /end
Black voters chose Biden in 2020 over Harris Booker and Deval Patrick. Black women are well represented among the delegates to the convention. I trust the delegates to pick the best person to win in November.
