I mean yes it could be struck down or who knows but we need to be out there talking about this & agitating. When we go to work we expect potable water (Flint still doesn’t have it but 💧is something most expect in the US). We need to expect safe air too. Because each time you catch covid hurts you

Courts desperately need to uphold this, as it often directly impacts them. Most courthouses were built before they banned lead pipes or installed efficient central heating. Our local, highly rated suburban school district has a high level of lead in their water. www.timesunion.com/education/ar...
Shenendehowa finds high lead levels in sinks, water fountainswww.timesunion.com Dozens of water sources in Shenendehowa schools, from water fountains to kitchen sinks, have tested for high levels of lead.

I got long COVID on the job and was told that I probably wouldn't qualify for disability so why bother, but I sure can't do a physical job like that again

There’s a support group for helping people with LC apply for disability. But that’s SSDI not workplace disability. A lot of people are denied but some do get it. I wish I could DM you the link. I can on Twitter if you use that.

Sorry to hear that you got COVID on the job 😢 We need more workplace protections! Long COVID is a disability under the ADA, Section 504, and Section 1557 "if it substantially limits one or more major life activities.” Read more here: www.hhs.gov/civil-rights...
Guidance on “Long COVID” as a Disability Under the ADA, Sectionwww.hhs.gov Although many people with COVID-19 get better within weeks, some people continue to experience symptoms that can last months after first being infected.

I could give it a shot but nobody seems to believe me when I tell them I can't do stuff like I used to be able to. I used to walk 8-10 miles a day for work bending stooping and lifting and being very active and now just talking too emphatically while sitting down can get my heart rate going too fast

I’m so sorry… I believe you 100%.

One kind of employer that would be forced to start caring about clean air is the health care provider. In which case patients would benefit too.

The capitalist model - in the dystopian future (and present, in some places) we’ll have to buy clean food, water, & air; or hope we get some free from our employers.

Spaceballs in a small throwaway scene did it best.
Fuckin’ a I want my COUPLE HUNDRED HOURS of annual & sick leave back right fucking now!

It's been understood as a work injury if it's more likely than not to have been contracted at work in most (all?) Canadian jurisdictions with entitlement to worker's compensation benefits.

The US Supreme Court will strike that down before summer.

I really hope you're wrong on that but the sad part is you're probably right
People who refuse vaccines and CDC advice made their self sick

I was fully vaccinated and boosted and I got covid outside and now I have long covid. Vaccines save lives but 7-15% of people who catch covid get long covid, including vaccinated people. We need to make safer workplaces and public spaces.
Avatar
Vaccinated and boosted people get long covid too. I’m one of them. We need safe workplaces and relying on vaccinations and no other interventions is not enough. Respirator masks, air filtration and paid sick leave is all essential.

And those around them who are fully vaxxed because they (the infected and unvaxxed) decided going to work with a 103f fever, no mask, and a ragged bloody cough was a good idea to do.
