Reasons people don't leave a DV situation: No reliable transportation, no financial stability, lack of support network (abusers use isolation as means of control), no place to live/go to, among many many other reasons. Stop asking why they don't leave, hold abusers accountable.
And the normalization, don't forget; the days come and go and you're too busy keeping head above water to think even. Which is perfectly in the interest of the abusers (one realises that pretty much afterwards).
I had to lose everything to get away from my abuser... and move to a different state, and to be fair, we both emotionally and mentally abused each other...
