From the couple of YouTube videos I saw, I think there may have been more of a slow creep of the private equity firm taking over control which is why we're only now seeing the inevitable result as opposed to right after the transaction closed.
Saw a video where a guy who used to work at Donut said he was two levels from the top before the sale and nine after. Just so much bloat and the "necessary" cost cutting to pay for it
