the way MahoAko/Gushing Over Magical Girls normalizes, destigmatizes, and legitimizes kink + non-standard queer desire is radical and transgressive. through its silly jokes there is legitimate pathos for the struggle to express desire. a series that many willfully, dangerously misunderstood.
now more than ever, we cannot slap complicated queer art with a regressive label that conservatives would put on us. it's irresponsible and dismissive.
