yall I know kids can be dumb, but treating them with respect isn't hard and they do notice. they're little humans running around that might have never heard how a word is pronounced before, or really like a cringe horror game you hate. don't make fun of them for it, man. be nice, jesus christ
their whole existence is already every adult in their life shitting on every single thing that brings them joy, you don't need to add to that. it piles up, it erodes away their fascination and wonder in the world, it makes them cynical and bitter. leave them alone and let them like things
Favorite’d, agreed, +1, etc, et al. I teach art to teens and preteens, and sometimes I get a new student who doesn’t want to share something for fear of ridicule. I try so hard to blast that fear to smithereens by being unabashedly supportive about everyone’s likes and vocal about my own.
Throwing in weird animal facts also helps for some odd reason. You think YOU’RE weird? Here, let me show you this weird bird. Or heck, guess what, elephants walk on their toes. Good icebreakers. 😂
