Wonder what flare man has lined up for an encore.

The Gladiator II trailer looks like it could well be Gladiator I (Taylor’s Version) but, to be honest, I am here for it.

Additionally, Mr Orange was a plant on the inside and betrays the rest of them. I can hazard a pretty good guess as to which of these utter bastards is Mr Orange, especially re: betrayal for his own ends.

Now he’s out of parliament, we need to team George Galloway up with Dutch footballer Denzel Dumfries to make a detective series, where Denzel does all the hard work and solves cases by debunking the mad conspiracy theories of his partner. The title of such a series is obvious.

Wednesday going to be a massive day in English men’s sport. Jimmy Anderson begins his final Test match. I am sure this will be dominating the back pages.

#Let5D0It Thanks to Arron for running a great event and to everyone who participated. Some belting selections out there and it was always good to see what turned up. I thought the JWC was a success. The last thing we needed was more of the same stuff being rehashed over and over imo.

BRITISH VANILLA: no way, no way.
VANILLA: uninspired, plebeian FRENCH VANILLA: avant-garde, sophisticated… maybe even a little dangerous??

Sorting the political from the musical commentary today, I found yet more evidence that time travel will not be accessible to me during my lifetime, otherwise I - a (former? Eh…) Oasis fan - would have gone back and engineered a Lynyrd Skynyrd incident immediately post Knebworth 96

I assume like most people, I think getting rid of the Tories this week an absolute necessity. Still, I’ve been listening to This Is Hardcore and came across the below. The poverty of aspiration from the likely incoming admin is dispiriting. Let’s hold their feet to the fire. I won’t be staying up

I am left, this Saturday night, wondering what it says about me mentally that all this power of positivity stuff from Coldplay just leaves me cold. Perhaps something for me to examine.

I’ve never really listened to Michael Kiwanuka before - this set on the TV right now from Glastonbury is pretty decent though. Might be worth me having a dig through.

I think, when it comes to impala, I prefer them wild.

Dress by PJ Harvey fucking rules.

My first Blast game at The Oval this year and they’re playing Walking On Broken Glass by Annie Lennox on the stadium PA. The crowd don’t appear to be jumping as a result of this. Though admittedly, it’s not due to start for 45 mins.

Today I discovered Sandi Thom’s inspiration on the B-Side of Ally’s Tartan Army - the unfortunately positive anthem for Scotland’s “assault” on the 1978 World Cup.

I’m watching Heat again and consider that probably my most knuckle dragging opinion is this film might be my favourite ever. Heat 2 - the book - is also magnificent.

Can’t believe we’ve been denied an opportunity to gloat by that bastard Gove.

I’ve 2 more slots on my 77-99 list, so I’ve been listening to Janet Jackson this morning. A minor rant/thread may now ensue: I went to Spotify and dialled up the This Is Janet Jackson playlist - I imagine a great many people do this when they want a “greatest hits” and don’t know where to start 1/n

#Let5D0It I doubt anyone is “that” interested but here’s my final LDI playlist. There’s no obscurities here really - though also a lot of artists not featured who many picked. Now listening to Benny Goodman in prep for the pre-54 challenge. open.spotify.com/playlist/7Jz...

#Let5D0It 50) Fleetwood Mac - Rhiannon (1976) Don’t know exactly what they’ve done here and how but I’ve always thought of this album and its follow up as incredibly warm sounding (especially for what would turn into a circular firing squad). That’s for later though. youtu.be/0xGPi-Al3zQ?...

#Let5D0It 49) Queen - Somebody To Love (1975) It’s not Bohemian Rhapsody. A little more restrained but still a go for broke multi-part show off. And honestly, the one I prefer nowadays - probably because it’s less exposed. youtu.be/kijpcUv-b8M?...

#Let5D0It 47) Iggy & The Stooges - Search And Destroy (1973) - 11 points I love funk/soul/R&B. But if you really pushed me, my favourite album of all time is still probably Raw Power. All time first line and a band playing into the teeth of the oncoming apocalypse. youtu.be/LC9km8qnbOY?...

#Let5D0It 45) Ike & Tina Turner - Nutbush City Limits (1973) I mean…jeez. A nasty, threshing riff and, just like Stevie, back on the clavinet to push it all along. But here, yeah, OBVIOUSLY, Jagger has nicked all his moves from Tina. And doesn’t do them as well either. youtu.be/I07249JX8w4?...
Ike & Tina Turner - Nutbush City Limits (1973)youtu.be Ike & Tina Turner were an American musical duo active during the 1960s and 1970s, consisting of the husband-and-wife team Ike Turner and Tina Turner. Rolling Stone ranked them No. 2 on their list of the 20 Greatest Duos of All Time. Beginning in 1960, they performed live as the Ike & Tina Turner Revue, supported by Ike Turner's band the Kings of Rhythm and backing vocalists called the Ikettes. The Ike & Tina Turner Revue was regarded as "one of the most potent live acts on the R&B circuit". Their live performances were a musical spectacle in the style of James Brown and the Famous Flames. The duo's early recordings, which include "A Fool In Love", "It's Gonna Work Out Fine", and "I Idolize You", became high points in the development of soul music. Their later works are noted for interpretive re-arrangements of rock songs such as "Come Together", "Honky Tonk Woman", and "Proud Mary", the latter of which won them a Grammy Award in 1972. The Turners' professional and personal relationship ended in 1976, and their divorce was finalized in 1978. Ike & Tina Turner were inducted to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1991. They have two singles inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, "River Deep – Mountain High" and "Proud Mary".

#Let5D0It 43) Alice Cooper - School’s Out (1972) It’s all great fun: glam attack, sing song piss take, we can’t even think of a word that rhymes. Then, on the last chorus, the drums kick in - a little louder and more menacing - and you realise they’re not playing around. youtu.be/mBqiC5ox8Bw?...

#Let5D0It 42) Roxy Music - Virginia Plain (1972) They’re all dressed like they’re in different bands. They’re chucking weird electronics and oboes at glam rock guitar shapes. They’re almost certainly talking complete bollocks in the lyrics. They shouldn’t work. They do. youtu.be/BonWfTW7jKc?...

#Let5D0It 41) The Temptations - Papa Was A Rollin’ Stone (1972) - 12 points Many reasons for 12 but to pick one. Listen to those handclaps breaking in on the 1st chorus - precise, whipcrack tight, certainly placed. Nothing wasted. A funk/soul groove as good as either got. youtu.be/nXiQtD5gcHU?...
