The reason for Biden to step aside is not the polls. He’s right about that. They probably are wrong. The reason for him to step aside is cognition decline.
And same for Trump, of course. They both need rest, routine, regular caretaking, & locks on the gun cabinet.
They are not well.
I’m going to forever be in a state the Democratic Party is determined by republican rule. Can’t have primaries because the old farts in power decided they represent our wishes. While they forced out my Congressman for having the audacity to be great.
And, believing that, you only want him to step down as a candidate, but remain President? Is Biden's policy not good?
Most voters didn't watch the debate, nor read the NYT and WaPo; but Freakout2024 is amplifying the story that the Trump campaign wants to tell & suppressing the story of Project2025
Is it not good that Biden pardoned all prior federal offenses of simple marijuana possession? or US veterans who were convicted by the military over a 60-year period under a military law that banned gay sex?
Biden has some significant Ws, and some major Ls, most of all his enabling of Netanyahu. But I have far more trust in Harris’s ability at this juncture than his.
Is Biden's environmental policy not good? Do you believe in clean coal or something? You don't think it's good to require coal plants to capture all of their CO2 by 2032 or close by 2039? it wasn't good to fight for the EPA to have the power to regulate carbon capture, at least until Trump's court?
You didn't answer my second question. Which Biden policies don't you like? Banning medical debt from credit reports? Cracking down on junk fees? Banning non-compete clauses? Capping credit card fees? Negotiating drug prices, capping the cost of insulin? Expanding OT pay? Student loan forgiveness?
The debate was designed to make him look bad. Two major newspapers just got new conservative execs-- coincidentally the two papers strongly pushing this angle. The Trump campaign has been talking about "we'll see if Biden steps down" and they have plans for that.
It's manipulation.
I disagree. I have cared for people in cognitive decline. I cannot ignore what I see.
I understand the media environment very well. I’m not saying it has been friendly to Biden’s reelection.
But denying the reality of his limitations actually legitimizes lies & manipulations coming from the right
I hear people say the polls are wrong, but if Biden is consistently down in nearly all of them, and has been for some time, is that so easy to dismiss?
