Watching the LE FEMME NIKITA 4K disc and it still blows me away. Almost 35 years later, it’s kinda crazy how giant an influence this one continues to have. Also, honestly shocked there hasn’t been a legacy sequel. Not saying we need one (we don’t), but as that’s the trend… 🤷‍♀️

Osgood Perkins delivers once again. #Longlegs overflows in a palpable sense of all-consuming dread. It’s a slow-burn shocker that doesn’t allow an exit from the madness for either its characters or the audience. Superb. moviefreak.com/longlegs-202...

So breezily charming, #FlyMeToTheMoon is an old-school Tracy-Hepburn style romcom that showcases Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum at the best. Had a blast watching this one achieve romantic liftoff. moviefreak.com/fly-me-to-th...

Fracture ankle. Go see major studio star-driven period romcom. Makes perfect sense in my book. 🤷‍♀️

Came back from a doctor appointment this afternoon with news I’d fractured my ankle. So that’s fun. At least all of this was waiting for me in my mailbox. Guess I have a few new options on what to watch for the next little while. Take the good new with the bad, right?

There’s plenty going on in #MaXXXine for those who want to dig in to all its retro ‘80s sleaze-slasher charms. Not all of it works but, for the most part, all of it is at worst interesting. Mia Goth remains outstanding. moviefreak.com/maxxxine-202...

Me: Ugh. Been a rough month. I’m backlogged on so many pieces I need to finish and get active. Also me: Oooooooo…4K Twister is here. I should watch it. 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️😂

Liked Christy Hall’s #Daddio quite a bit. Dakota Johnson and Sean Penn are superb. Some of their conversations ring a little hollow, but overall I was captivated and - best of all - genuinely moved. Good stuff. moviefreak.com/daddio-2023-...

Possible this month’s “Unforgettables” for the @SeattleGayNews is about a film no one could have anticipated I adore as much as I do. Be that as it may, let’s journey to the Hyborian Age, chat about CONAN THE DESTROYER, and tell tales of high adventure! www.sgn.org/story.php?ch...

Journeying back to the Hyborian Age in June’s “Unforgettables” installment in Friday’s Seattle Gay News. Before going on that quest, why not revisit May’s entry celebrating the 50th anniversary of THUNDERBOLT AND LIGHTFOOT? It’s a bank robbing blast. moviefreak.com/unforgettabl...

Been slowly doing some library cleanup around the apartment. Putting some stuff in clear storage bins (so it’s easy to find stuff) and generally reorganizing the shelves at the same time. It’s exhausting, but at least I’m starting to feel like I’m making a tiny bit of headway.

Just finished chatting with Willow Catelyn Maclay and Caden Mark Gardner about their upcoming book “Corpses, Fools and Monsters: The History and Future of Transness in Cinema.” Can’t wait to share it with everyone in next week’s Seattle Gay News. Such a great conversation. Fun times.

Article in today’s Seattle Times about the softball team I happen to coach was not something I expected. Huge shoutout to the Puget Sound Pronouns players and fans. You all do the hard work. You make the team what it is. Thank you. ❤️ www.seattletimes.com/sports/other...

Disney’s #YoungWomanAndTheSea is pretty great. Daisy Ridley’s never been better. Made with intelligence, care and confidence. Doesn’t reinvent the inspirational sports film wheel but does not need to. Just a terrific night out at the movies. Go see it. moviefreak.com/young-woman-...

Respected and admired the craft behind #InAViolentNature more than I fully enjoyed it. Also curious how it will work without a rowdy festival crowd. But there’s still lots to like here. And that mid-movie kill fans are going nuts about? It’s INCREDIBLE. moviefreak.com/in-a-violent...

Was flabbergasted speechless by FURIOSA. I’m shook. Absolutely stunning. George Miller is a genius. Have no idea how he does it…but he’s unquestionably done it again. Wow.
