Based on the commentary in the first 10 minutes of this Charlotte-Toronto game, MLS has clearly encouraged announcers to talk a lot about what a great job their scab referees are doing.
As a grassroots soccer referee, I am conflicted about the sympathy I have for referees when they make difficult calls while maintaining my beliefs that MLS should settle with the referee union and get the professionals back on the field.
