Solar panels and battery storage especially in high sunshine areas like HB. Also, why isn’t this being installed in our schools & businesses where usage is during the day? Power is usually the biggest bill for schools outside salaries.

While this is true, the amount of power generated in winter,even on sunny days,is much less. Solar is reducing my power bill by about a third at the mo. When installed in late Feb it was pretty much providing all my power and feeding back to the grid

This is in Ōtautahi. The heat pump will drain the battery relatively quickly once the sun goes down. Battery hasn't hit 100% for a while.

At the very least, new build consent applications should have had to consider solar installation during the build and give a reason for discounting it.

I don't even think it's that...the insulation legislation was brought in under Labour which would have been resistant to that argument. More likely - at the time - it looked like a case of too hard...

Ironically, the insulation and glazing requirements would have added far more to the build cost than even a small solar installation...

That, and rainwater collection and storage and incentives for wastewater treatment on-site

Rooftop solar/storage is great unless you are a major shareholder in the gentailers...

I have to laugh when you search on VPPs in NZ and all the Gentailers have 'trials' from like 2019 and yet have they brought them to market, NO
