Why you should always read author bios, a thread.
Years ago, being a fan of @neilhimself.neilgaiman.com Sandman comic, I picked up his book Marvel 1602. Inside was a Bio on Neil and artist Andy Kubert. From that I learned about the Kubert school, to which I went after college. (1)

On the other hand, reading a particular author bio long ago is the reason the phrase "Powerful big rats, gentlemen" has haunted me for decades.

Unfortunately, I no longer have the volume in question - after I got my beautiful Sandman Omnibus editions(!), I passed my old TPBs along to new readers. It was either from Preludes & Nocturnes, or Season of Mists.

As consolation, I will accept a photo of the Omnibus volume in question
