Of course, but as always, the devil is in the details. The French electoral system actually allows people to vote for their true preference; lecturing progressives to "vote harder" for some Manchin figure to block Trump is not the same thing.

French progressives could vote for an alternative to establishment centrism and have it count – while US voters are stuck between the latter and the far-right. FPTP is, simply put, undemocratic, and no wonder voters are generally more demoralized in such a system.
