The speed with which right-wingers (and right-adjacent 'liberals') have rushed to direct hatred towards universities and their workers over the past week has been shocking even for those of us with very low expectations of the discourse
This particular piece is drenched in distortions and/or bad-faith claims - see this paragraph in which the author loses their shit over the national anthem & fails to mention that the "sociology professor" was long retired AND instantly stripped of her emerita titles for her stupid & hateful tweet
The fact that so much hateful commentary over the past week has invoked 'wokeism' indicates not that we have a double standard of racism in the university, but that so many people outside the university are still furious at the modest attempts in recent years to reckon with racism in our culture
