(it was a smaller car in a clearly marked spot, so idk if it counts though)
My dad actually thought it would be good to teach me how to drive stick on Divisadero Street through Pacific Heights. One transmission later, he was able to properly teach me.
I drove a stick in SF for years - parallel parked, crept up hills to stop signs, perpendicular parked on some hills - and was darned proud of that skill! Never ruined a transmission.
