Bloody Buron: Highland Light Infantry vs the 12th SSyoutu.be On July 8, 1944, the Highland Light Infantry of Canada (HLI) attacked and captured the village Buron, west of Caen during Operation Charnwood. The battle was the HLI's first battle in Normandy. The fighting was so difficult with such high casualties that battle became known as Bloody Buron. The British Commonwealth Air Training Plan has to be one of the most impactful elements, if not the most, of #WorldWar2 on Canada. It's former airfields are everywhere across the country. Now they are the airports you use, the nature paths you walk on, the racetracks you visit, and much more.
