I think they send their message very effectively, and I do like the message (no point in protecting art and history when the environment is not protected). What I worry about is how much this does not win them any public support, something they 100% need for reach their endgame.
Just Stop Oil protesters spray Stonehenge with paint | CNNwww.cnn.com Environmental protesters have sprayed Britain’s most famous prehistoric structure, Stonehenge, with orange paint a day before huge crowds are expected to gather there for the summer solstice.

All the people fussing about custard powder on a 'historic monument' with a near perpetual traffic jam running past it are missing a bit of context

They don’t want to get the public’s support, they want the public to pay attention and take action. Because clearly the sweltering climate isn’t enough? People should be pissed about all of it. And if it takes defacing Stonehenge for people to feel something, even anger, then they’ve succeeded.

When you put it that way, I also kinda disagree with the message. I think there is a point to protecting art and history and the environment and they should mutually support each other as political priorities. There are much better targets for protest.

Just because a building is old doesn't mean it should be safe from graffiti that washes off with rain Y'all are acting like they set fire to a 700 year old Cathedral in the heart of Paris.

I thought that was a pretty mild opinion. Is talking about tactics an overreaction? It's not like the point of "Just Stop Oil" is lost on me. The point is pretty clear.

Chalk literally doesn't harm stone It's not like they're blowing up cathedrals or mosques Please, are you going to tell me that they should go back to the protests they'd been doing for decades previous that were ignored by global media, too?

I'm not making that comparison. This is obviously not a demolition, it's relatively light vandalism as a tactic. It does generate attention. My question is if there would be more effective targets for protest and vandalism - that's not the same as pearl clutching.

Well, when the narrative is "this is destroying cultural artifacts" when it measurably isn't... yeah it comes off as pearl clutching.
They seem to be picking a fight with people who don't waste energy, don't take air flights, but do use public transport. Throw orange power at private aircraft, sit on the runway, throw paint on fuel guzzling cars- but leave OUR treasures alone!

Literally they've been doing that to no effect for decades. Oh hey, toss some chalk at a world historic site and now they have global attention. Pull your head out of your ass
Don't be so bloody rude! But, are you saying they attacked the wealthy & that didn't change anything - so they've started hitting at the less wealthy? I think removing your head would only be accomplished thru surgical intervention, if you don't mind me saying so.

How the fuck is a building "less wealthy people" And I will be rude when people are pearl clutching over some chalk being dusted onto some rocks, especially when said pearl clutchers are also ignoring the history of anti oil protests.

Nothing has worked so far, so why not? I'd simplify your construction of it though We have chosen to erase the future, so we don't need a past.
