Congressional Republicans have a new plan to reorganize NIH and it's a doozy. One thing that stands out is replacing the National Institute On Aging with a new institute titled the National Institute on Dementia. Yikes. www.statnews.com/2024/06/18/n...

I am mad on a weekly basis that we let one party threaten one of the most important research institutions in human history. We should be celebrating NIH all the damn time

And NICHD would be in the National Institute for Disability Delated Research. Pregnancy and childhood as disabling conditions is really saying the quiet part out loud.

I'm old. Really old. I can verifiably state that aging involves more than just dementia. Much more. Republicans are just mean little sadist, deriving joy from imagining the pain they might be able to inflict on others.

With republicans, cruelty is the point! Their whole plan (Project 2025) is inflicting as much cruelty on as much of the population as they possibly can! I sure hope they will be voted out everywhere, on all levels, because they always start it on state levels!

This seems to be a move toward equating the aging process WITH dementia, and seems to imply that dementia is the natural (and inevitable) result of aging. Which, if I'm right, nudges seniors one step closer to the brink conservatives seem to be nudging us toward.
