The immunity decision was upside down, fretting about the indictment of Trump as a harbinger of future threats to the presidency instead of recognizing Trump's actions as a past and current one. Gift link: wapo.st/4bquy5M
Analysis | The Supreme Court gets the stakes of presidential immunity backwardwapo.st The reason that the question is being broached now isn’t that Donald Trump is a victim.

So basically, Nixon was just a man ahead of his time

Honestly think they weren't thinking first and foremost what this meant for Trump? I honestly don't believe they were focused on the future no matter what they claim.

Since he's immune, Biden should order Seal Team Six to execute Sniffles. It's an official act upholding his oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic.
EXACTLY! SCOTUS tried to hit it out of the ballpark, but basically said "maybe yes, maybe no. Crimes no - but hey, appeal if you want to commit them anyways." We've always had this level of presidential immunity: *nothing* changed. SCOTUS should not have taken the request for such a habby outcome.

Can the Senate or the DOJ do anything about the fact that Thomas and Alito did not recuse? It would still be 4-3, but Barrett's position would be the compromise.
