I don’t know if you have to stop play to write down the yellow, but I’ve always seen refs do that, because usually giving the yellow means a player can’t be in position.
Maybe I missed it, but I thought I saw it roll to an Uruguay player who reached down and stopped it with his hand and then kicked it forward. Maybe I’m remembering it wrong.
