Established in 1970, Glad Day is the world’s oldest 2SLGBTQ bookstore. It has been at the heart of Canadian struggles for sexual liberation, free speech and creativity. Glad Day is in crisis & needs to raise $100,000 by the end of June in order to continue. Please donate, please share. More info:

In 1970, Jearld Moldenhauer opened the bookstore out of his apartment in the Annex in Toronto. It has since changed hands a number of times. Since 2016, Glad Day has operated out of its current location in the Gay Village as a bookstore, restaurant, and queer community hub.

Now they need our help once again. I've posted a screenshot of my donation above. I hope you will consider matching it, or giving what you can, or sharing the original post to let people know that an important community hub and piece of our history is at risk.

Oh wow! I left town in 2015, so I didn’t realize they’d moved. And so close to the 519, too. That looks like a great space. Donating and boosting here and spreading elsewhere. Thanks for the headsup.

Thanks! I'm not affiliated with Glad Day, I'm just another community member who doesn't want to see us lose another queer institution. 🖤
