That's a Wrap IUGC2024.
Using Ocean Gliders's engineering flight data to visualise ocean mixing processes.
The random water flow of ocean mixing processes causes differential flow over each wing that shows up in the rolling motion of the glider
Some cautiously optimistic news from the #GBR.
These ocean profiles from yesterday & 6wk ago
show recent high winds have mixed the water column to<29c
bringing relief to stressed & bleaching corals
like 2020&22 when the early arrival of SE winds
allowed corals to make an almost 100% recovery
It's not looking good for corals on the #GBR folks.
The next 4-5 days are going to be very stressful corals; elevated temperature, low winds and low tidal movement (2nd - 4th feb)
These look distressingly similar to conditions during the 2016 bleaching event

Hi BlueSky. My first post!
I've just fired up my GBR (great barrier reef) in water monitoring site again for this year ahead of this summer
We are almost a degree below climatology & with low winds forecast are likely to see a rise in upper ocean temp
i'll report regularly over summer
