NSW District Court Justice Russell today found Qantas guilty of discriminating against a work health and safety representative who told co-workers not to clean planes from China the day after Australia closed its borders to such arrivals. Full decision: caselaw.nsw.gov.au/decision/18b...

I was honoured to represent "Fiona" in this disability discrimination case in the NSW Consumer and Administrative Tribunal. The Tribunal was very critical of the NSW Department of Education and has awarded $15,000 compensation for hurt and humiliation. /2 www.smh.com.au/national/nsw...

NSW Health today lost its argument that they don't need to to provide information if it is held in a database containing extraneous data which is private or irrelevant, claiming that to do so would involve creating a new document. tinyurl.com/2vnbtx58

This is current guidance for hospitals in a NSW local health district. Staff can return to work 3 days after a positive COVID test. This is probably when they are most infectious. And not even required to mask... because the pandemic's apparently over, minimising transmission is no longer required.

Ch. 7 Weekend Sunrise: "Most of us are kinda immune". This is a doctor giving advice which could, kinda, make people think that most of us are immune, so no need to take precautions to protect ourselves or others. youtu.be/5CtsLXmAtPo

Proof that it's worth complaining about poor air quality. Same theatre on two occasions. I complained after the first visit and the owner undertook to have the HVAC checked. It is obvious that the system has an adjustable CO2 setpoint (a bit high still) but was not operating the first time.

I hope the cookers watch this, realise that rich companies and politicians are spending millions on good ventilation while the rest of us take our chances on what might be in the air we are forced to breath, then mobilise in their millions demanding IAQ mandates. www.cbsnews.com/news/indoor-...

Both my State and Federal Health Ministers refused to tell me what C19 vaccines are on order to meet Australia's vaccine-only policy. Now the Health dept has rejected my FOI request. I will appeal this but that could take months or even years. /2

I've been skeptical about how well personal air purifiers work. This research by Professor Giorgio Buonanno is really informative and encouraging. The whole video is excellent but this link takes you to that section: youtu.be/ODPQZdxqv8M?...

www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODPQ.... A must-watch for anyone interested in the science of air purifiers. Amazing work being done on personal air purifiers by Giorgio Buonannio and Lidia Morawska, ARC Training Centre for Advanced Building Systems against Airborne Infection Transmission.

Ventilation, air filtration and COVID 19 - Avoiding the Snake Oil Salesman: www.youtube.com/watch?v=D96x... A couple of years old but still great information, including an explanation of CADR (it's not just how much air is moved) and why ventilation/filtration is not enough in its own.

An interesting thread, have I read it right that influenza causes many deaths from heart and other circulatory diseases?
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) released a report on winter mortality that got some recent press (below) for the comparison of flu and covid mortality. I wanted to go into the basis for the findings a little more deeply. A thread. 1/ www.bbc.com/news/health-...

PM Albanese apologise for your stuffup and announce that in spite of the referendum failure, Parliament will immediately establish the proposed Voice anyway! Both sides agree First Nations should have a voice, the issue was that amending the Constitution was claimed to be risky.

Fascinating ABC Science Show today, particularly Pamela Bjorkman, Professor of Biological Engineering at Caltech, specialising in SARS viruses explaining how vaccines work and how they are working on a new technology that will handle a bigger variety of strains. www.abc.net.au/listen/progr...
