You've inspired me. I have a blank canvas staring at me and I'm going to ground it tonight with Alizarin Crimson.

Go for it! 😀 Another fun red to mess with is quinacrodone red - similar deep brilliant tone to alizarin, but a bit more lightfast and slightly more opaque. And mixing alizarin or quinacrodone with a bit of cadmium red is just magical

Oh, that's a good thought...and also a good combo for a limited palette...(plus titanium white of course, and maybe burnt umber or Van Dyke brown for the heavier shadows...)
