Project 2025 and Heritage have stuck to Trump and the GOP in ways seemingly no other issue has. It's the first time I've seen them play actively defensive on an issue instead of brushing it off.
The reality is that their policies aren't popular, and telegraphing them so plainly and in such a convenient format to reference, they've made it easier than ever to pierce the veil of their populist bullshit.
I feel like the RW has vastly overestimated being loud for being popular. For every nutjob crying about porn in school libraries there are 10 normies trying to shut them up.
I just hope its enough to get people to recognize them as the actual threat they are. The fascists in the party are not an inconvenient annoyance, its an active feature.
And to be honest, I hope it's enough to get the rank and file to finally move on from this. Because I'm fully aware that a sizable chunk of elected GOP officials are kissing the ring when they don't want to.
We will have to see. The MAGA crowd has actively become the main base that the GOP has been trying to appeal to for the last 8 years. Ever since the GOP realized that as long as they pay the lip service they can actively do whatever they want and no one in their base will care.
