aside from the business case (vw already manages multiple high end brands very well, rivn has off the charts customer satisfaction and huge revenue relative to market cap) there’s these vibes
Either that, or they want to be first in line to get the assets in bankruptcy. But it’s a pretty pricey way to play that latter scenario. I think the long run out come here is that VW absorbs Rivian. But it’s not a forgone conclusion and there’s a real path for Rivian stand alone.
