You mean subsidize paper and cardboard? If so, I’d rather favor those materials through a tax on plastic, which is one of the proposals supported by many countries participating in the Global Plastics Treaty negotiations currently nearing their conclusion (scheduled for the end of this year).

I’m in a timber and paper industry district and including them would help democrats win more. Trees are renewable.

I have no way of explaining without sounding like a dick. Things need packaging. Not supporting certain industries pits the workers against the Democratic Party.

I have a blue dog rep in office who frequently talks against plastic (particularly garlands and Christmas trees) There are strategies you leave on the table. That’s all.
