I’m as dug-in that Biden should step aside after that interview. On the one hand, he didn’t level with us, and on the other his dodging and parrying didn’t seem very effective. There were moments—I’d have to rewatch to pinpoint—where he seemed to lose the thread just a little.
Biden seemed most cogent and fluid on the questions about Democrats asking him to step aside, which of course he’s been consumed with in recent days, but on the bigger campaign questions he seemed wooden, offering only a quick-and-dirty rehash of anti-Trump arguments.
That’s my problem. It was a better performance than the debate, but considering it was under the best possible circumstances it wasn’t better enough to convince anyone that the debate was an outlier.
