Results are now out for the guaranteed basic income pilot in Paterson, New Jersey where 110 people got $400/mo for a year.
Pilot participants increased their incomes significantly to $24,810 from an average of $16,604. The control group ended up at $19,078.

It’s not hard to rack up an annual $1000 in debt service and other costs and fees that come with not having as much money as you need.
Imagine the space to breathe where none existed before. It must be rejuvenating. Or what’s it called when it happens for the first time? Awakening, perhaps?
OK does the increased income *include* the $400/mo they gave them? It's good in any case by it's basically 2x as effective if that is *not* including the $400/mo so that is a pretty significant detail...
