It's July 4th, so some of you will be roasting marshmallows tonight. That sweet confection got its name from the marsh mallow (althaea officinalis). Marshmallows were originally made using the sap from the plant whipped together with egg whites and sugar (now they use gelatin instead of the sap). ๐ฑ๐
