The Acolyte is extremely uneven and rather badly paced/structured but overall this is maybe my 2nd favorite thing done with Star Wars since the Disney takeover
It’s genuinely bold, the concepts it’s playing w/ are fantastic, and it has the best martial arts action of the entire series since Revenge
Straight guys jacking off to the new pic of Lady Deadpool are in for a hilarious awakening when it’s just Ryan Reynolds, padded, cinched, hair laid and stamped
My favorite thing about going to the movies is seeing something that’s 1 at the top of the box office for several weeks making bank and is all anyone on social can post about and then catching up with 9to5 colleagues roughly the same age who immediately ask “what’s that?”

I’m never disappointed in them bc the bar is below the ground, I expect nothing more than the absolute worst
I've seen Alien (1979) in 70mm and I had already seen that movie on Blu-Ray a bunch but that was the first time I really appreciated the effectiveness of its scares.
What I've never seen is Aliens (1986) on a big screen. Like that's a BIG movie I'd love with a game crowd

It’s implied that Weyland-Yutani KNEW this would happen. Ripley, Parker and Lambert all piece together that they want the thing for the weapons division.
And like…duh OF COURSE a soulless mega corp driven by colonization & consumption would be obsessed with this species. It IS their ideal self.
It just hit me that you cannot distance the Xenomorph stuff from humanity even if there’s that cosmic unknowable horror element to them. They may be “alien” but they are *born* of human flesh.
They are our own monstrousness violently reflected back
“Kane’s son…” Ash muses at one point.

JD Vance furiously deleting all his posts about how he is that magical rare Conservative who does not support Trump with the same energy of Simu Liu working with Mark Wahlberg
This is gonna sound so silly but while it’s nowhere near as good as a show as Game Of Thrones but House Of The Dragon is the *correct* show for an audience who were well fed by Succession in the years between
