The other movie I watched recently was Wicked Little Letters. Typical British satirical set-up in a small town. Smart social observations. Some stereotyping. Streaks of feminism. Excellent performances from Olivia Colman, Anjana Vasan & Jessie Buckling. And some delightful creative bad language!

Finally watched Anyone But You ! Kinda underwhelming even thought its an adaptation of Much Ado About Nothing. A lot of Shakespearean wit is in the writing which is not something I felt the movie leaned on. #Anyonebutyou #movies

Amitav Ghosh's writing stole my heart. In a novel without a central plot, told through the mishmash of human memories, Ghosh creates something sublime & heartbreaking. Straddling events from WW2 to Bangladeshi independence, Ghosh writes of people in its shadows & human need for belonging. 📚💙

So I just saw this movie and it ruled, literally one of the best movies I’ve seen this year and the villains are NOT communists lol

The changing the villains from Hindutva guys to communists is one thing but look how clumsily they did it: adding red banners and signs to people otherwise wearing saffron robes lmao
