Bajadasaur in caliche forest. A4. Piece for the upcoming artbook. This started out as Amargasaurus on a saltflat, but researching saltflats, I stumbled across caliche forests and thought they looked really cool. And looking at sail-necked sauropods, I remembered Bajadasaurus. Original available.

The Land Before Time: The Great Valley A3 private commission Sadly, they wanted this one sweet and pretty so no destroying childhood dreams this time.

Phorusrhacid 'terror bird' grabs a pup from a colony of Acrophoca, the 'swan-necked' seal possibly ancestral to the leopard seal. Late Miocene, South America. A3 piece done, like most of my recent pieces, for my forthcoming self-published artbook. Original available.

On a bit of an art roll. Springtime for a sleepy Triceratops. Again, a bit of an experiment using Posca markers and brush pens, with pencils, on a deep red paper. A4. Original available.

Couple of new pieces. - An icy Pachyrhinosaurus I did to test out some new paper I bought recently. - Crouching Miragaia. Never drawn this weird Stegosaur before and having recently done a sketch of a rearing Stegosaurus, I wanted to do a more finished version using Miragaia instead.

Somewhat ironically, closing my Etsy shop triggered a wave of interest in my self-published artbooks ( the 'Lizards', as I like to call them). Here are some drawings for recent buyers: Spinosaurus & Mawsonia; Stegosaurus; and Eurhinosaurus

Wonderful little Kickstater I backed arrived today. Really beautiful package from @claireaspiller.bsky.social who I met at Thought Bubble Comic Art Festival a couple of years ago, where I bought her fabulous zines on corvids and gulls. If you're not familiar with her stuff, check her out!

#PortfolioDay I'm Marc Laming and I've drawn the comics for everybody except Archie...

Hello, #portfolioday - I'm a traditional artist of things prehistoric and fantastic.

Stegosaurs in flooded forest. A3 piece I did for fun because I realised I haven't drawn any pure dinosaur art in a while. Also wanted to try out some new fineliners. Original available. If you're interested, DM me for details.

Couple of books arrived today, one old, one new. @matttimson.bsky.social 's book is a lush collection of his superb artwork. The second was one that gave me profound flashes of childhood remembrance. So much amazing art by the likes of Angus McBride. They really don't make them like that anymore.

Jonah Hex A4 private commission. I was asked to use the classic comic as the jumping-off point and hence the inclusion of the Fokker Triplane. First time drawing Jonah Hex and a Fokker Triplane.

Cat Flap. Royal Marines hunting the Beast of Exmoor in the early 1980s. A3 piece for a self-published book I'm working on.

Hector A4 pet portrait commissioned by writer @paulcornell.bsky.social of a friend's Biewer Terrier. I went for a 'Monarch of the Glen' feel. Really enjoyed doing it. Nice change of pace.

Picked up for a £1 donation at Tesco's charity book drop. Will appeal to a certain demographic of a certain age. Reminds me of boyhood family holidays in Cornwall.

Something else I'm working on.

Haven't said much about the prehistoric shark book I'm working on as its a ways off yet but here's a couple of pieces featuring the basking shark Caucasochasma. They illustrate the two artistic approaches I'll be taking, one full colour the other pen & ink.
