Managed to setup a 34ft 5 line retractable clothes line in addition to the smaller 4 line permanent one I have outside. The new one goes where the sun hits it in the afternoon so hopefully I’ll be able to get caught up on laundry with so much more space/daylight!! Way too excited over this tbh

Fireworks have not even started yet but there have been the sounds of yelling, cheering, sirens (for fun maybe??), and god know what else for hours now. The Main Street through town is several blocks away but it sounds like a wild party. Cannot wait for the fireworks to rattle the windows! /s

LCD projector optics! This assembly takes light from the bulb and splits it into red, green, and blue. Then each color goes though an lcd and into a cube to recombine the colors and into a lens assembly to project. It’s so pretty and there has to be more fun things to do with it

Got this baby from the shelter and she was terrified. She hid from us when not trying to get us to play or eat. It took her a year of love and care but after that (and getting a kitten for her to play with) she sleeps on my every night. She is so smart and beautiful and I love her so much!

I had a large and most loving cat that died a few years ago that had hip dysplasia and I suspect was a Maine Coon. We rescued her from living in my sister in laws garage. The poor cat wasn’t all there mentally but she was 100% the most loving and cuddly kitty ever. I’m so glad we found her
I just want to cry when I see viral photos and videos of those super-sized Maine Coons. The bigger they get, the more likely they are to develop a painful condition called hip dysplasia. "But they look cool" is not a valid reason to make animals suffer. www.catster.com/cat-health-c...

This is the kind of selection that exists for reel to reel tapes. It’s mostly not my vibe but if I was an older man from the 1960s then I’d be super excited at getting all these at the thrift store.

Spent my week so far at work tracking down issues in my clustered splunk env. It wouldn’t have been so bad if I didn’t also use smartstore to store most of the data in s3 network storage. It’s the kinda thing that is excessively confusing to troubleshoot

Got a Tamagotchi On for $3.50 at the thrift store. I guess these specific ones sell for a shit ton of money on eBay so my luck strikes again.

Got a new computer at the thrift store! I kinda understand the pinout now and might be able to build an interface for it. It can do tape data in/out, print out, and maybe more. These are from ~1984 so it’s one of my oldest computers too

Convinced outside cat to play with a feather toy on a string and it has a lot of fun!

This is the closest this cat has gotten to me! It’s about 1ft away. I’m gonna catch it and make it mine someday

I really want a minidisc player/recorder now. I might have one somewhere but I’ve looked everywhere for it and cannot find it. There are just so many options on eBay and they are expensive enough that I cannot just buy a few and see what works for me.

I keep getting Sam Altman confused with Sam Bankman-Fried but then I realized that SBF is the man who tried to make a fake bank and SA is the man who’s trying to make an alternative to humanity and now it’s easy to remember which creep is which!

I feed cats outside and try to make friends with them. This one is getting super friendly and hangs out in the yard, talks to the crows, runs into my office if I leave the door open, and is super cute. Here it’s yawning and relaxing. Almost missed the other older wild cat in the background

Up too late so I’m gonna take a few shots of limoncello listen to a bit of “mystical call of the loon” on my new tape deck setup. All this audio stuff is coming together well but I need to find a preamp for the record player next so I can play galactic funk properly

Looking into this main spring is like looking into death. That spring is so thick and I’m sure I have unresolved trauma from prying open a tape measure as a small child. This spring is way more powerful though!!

I have my grandfather’s old wall mount rotary phone. He build the house himself and while he was out his mother got a phone installed. When he got back he cut the line and it hung on the wall until they sold the house. I just love this story and should hook it up to an ata so I can get calls on it

This reel to reel player is almost rack mountable! I’m not going to put screws into the housing but maybe I can do something else. I’d love all rack mount everything because I’m a sicko like that but not rich enough to burn on real rack mount gear

I really need to figure out a good use for these! I have a large pile of them and they mostly work. They run windows ce 5 (so no calendar, or PIM tools) and are all the nontouch models. I could build usb devices to plug into either end for a mouse or anything. I also have the ring barcode scanners

I find it so funny that I work for a voip phone company and I think I’m like one of the only people that actually has an interest in retro analog telco stuff.
