Constantinople lacked sufficient fresh water, making aqueducts and cisterns essential to the growing capital. The Aqueduct of Valens brought water from around 130 km, and consisted of a network of channels almost 500 km long making it the longest Roman aqueduct system. youtu.be/M-Jt2Rd1wF8

I am currently reading an autobiography of the Waugh family. I don't know if it was the intention, but they all seem like terrible fathers and on the whole rather unpleasant people. BookSky 💙📚 #CurrentlyReading

A beautiful day walking around the Cotswolds near Bibury and Coln St Aldwyns. There are few places in the UK as picturesque as the Cotswolds.

Next year I will be teaching Greek Theatre, starting with Oedipus Rex, about which I am very happy. Now that Year 11 and 13 have gone on exam leave, I have a bit of time to get reading and preparing. I am one very happy teacher! 😊 ClassicsBluesky 🏺 #EduSky

Does the scene of Herakles wrestling Death occur outside of Euripides? Apollodorus just has 'Herakles saved Alkestis' - doesn't elaborate further
