Some tricks and tips I have learned as an amateur front-end developer on Drupal sites over the years. This is part of a series I'm blogging as I rebuild the @digitallatin catalog's theme after migrating to Drupal 10. sjhuskey.info/posts/upgrad...

I'm rebuilding a theme for a Drupal site after migrating from version 7 to version 10. I thought I'd blog about the process, in case anyone might be in the same situation: front-end development on a DIY basis. Here's the introduction. More to come! sjhuskey.info/posts/upgrad...

Here's a post about my experience upgrading a hashtag#Drupal 7 site to D10 using DDEV. This was my first time using DDEV for a migration/upgrade. Not a lot was different, but there are some important changes to note. sjhuskey.info/posts/drupal...

A colleague needed to try out the Oral History Metadata Synchronizer's OHMS Viewer, so I figured out how to set it up using DDEV. I wrote up the instructions in case anyone else needs to do this. sjhuskey.info/posts/ohms/

I don't want to think about all of the time I've spent over the years trying to increase or decrease space between elements in various applications.

Microsoft's decision to change the keyboard shortcuts for pasting plain text (formerly cmd + option + shift + v) has probably had a considerable effect on productivity in recent weeks. You can create a custom shortcut, but why, when the original one was fine? What could have been their motivation?

If you invite or approve snipers on campus to quell student encampment protests, you should never work at an academic institution again.

Thinking of my former Indiana University colleagues as they head into today's historic no-confidence vote in the President and Provost. Given what's currently at stake in public higher education, I hope this achieves the leadership they need and deserve. www.forbes.com/sites/michae...

The Tulane faculty union asked to meet with the university president today and were threatened with arrest. It's a massive failure of leadership at Tulane similar to what's happening across higher education in the U.S. Reminder, merely gathering on campus ≠ arrestable. link: x.com/TulaneWorker...

If you don't hear from me for a while, that's because I'm trying to configure a Solr server in a Docker container on one server to communicate with a Drupal 10 site on another server. Remember when web development was simple?

Just spent way too long trying to get three divs to behave correctly in Bootstrap on various kinds of devices. Ridiculous number of media queries, etc. It keeps me busy, I guess.

Books designed to be read only by human eyes are different from books designed to be read by machines, which is why Google will tell you that the phrase “shake my booty” can be found in an 1863 English translation of Don Quixote.
